It's been quite awhile since I've written. This has been partly due to the Easter holiday. Things in the Wisconsin Dells sure have not slowed down. The recent flow of spring break families has been quite a treat. Hotels in Wisconsin Dells have been humming as families flock to the indoor water parks for a pre-summer soak. As he weather warms up, I'm sure we'll see those frozen travelers emerge to catch some of the much awaited sunlight.

The city of Wisconsin Dells decided in 1999 to devote $2.6 million to a project that was aimed at turn the city business improvement district into the new "Dells River District". The first phase of this initiative was wrapped up in June of 2002. If you are staying in Wisconsin Dells it's definitely worth checking out. Live music, great food, and entertainment can almost always be found.

Wisconsin Dells Car Show

If classic cars are your thing, then you are sure to love the Wisconsin Dells classic car show on May 21st and May 22nd. The event is put on by the local Wisconsin Dells Cruisers Car club.

According to the Wisconsin Dells Visitors and Convention bureau's website.

"Automotion is a showcase of over 900 cars including antiques, street machines and classics. Automotion features a swap meet, car corral, and an evening car cruise. The addition of other activities guarantee it to be fun for the entire family!"

If you enjoy classic cars, this event is for you. On Saturday May 21st and 22nd the Wisconsin Dells Cruisers are hosting a car show in the parking lot of Noah's Ark. They are anticipating more than 900 cars on display. The event is filled with live entertainment, swap meet, car cruise and drawings for 8 getaway packages. Admission is FREE for spectators. The Tommy Bartlett campus has both an exploratory in which you can marvel at scientific wonders and participate in over 150 exhibits. There is even the MIR space station you can explore. The other part of the Tommy Bartlett experience is the water show. I've been to the water show several times over the years and it's really a blast. The evening show has even had a laser show combined with it. What a great time!

The Crystal Grand is a Music Theatre in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin. The theatre is set amidst 22 wooded acres and has seating for 2000.

Toddlers Indoor water park

One of the newest phenomena to hit the travel and vacation industry is the growth of indoor water parks. Although they have been around for some time, they have recently taken on a new form by going from big to BIGGER! Indoor water parks provide for a great time in spite of what nature is doing outdoors.

Some of these indoor water parks can be quite intimidating for younger ones though.
That's were a special niche of water parks has arisen.

The Rain Tree Resort is one such water park that has been created with the younger ones in mind. They have over 80 interactive water activities to keep kids playing all afternoon. A zero-depth wading pool means you don't have to worry about your kids as they play. Lifeguards are on duty and life-preservers are available should you desire the extra safety.
Snacks and refreshment are nearby with the Crocodile Cafe located poolside.

If water activities aren't your thing there is also a newly added 2,000 square foot arcade to entertain you.

Go Go Go-Karts

The Wisconsin Dells offers some pretty great 4 wheeled racing action. The largest of these is Mt. Olympus Water & Theme Park. Mt. Olumpus offers 9 go-kart tracks, 6 coasters, 37 waterslides, lazy rivers, wave pool, 10 kiddie rides. They take go-karts to the next level with multi-level tracks. You can wind your way up a three story spiral and then race down to the bottom and cruise underground. If your the competitive type or just looking for an afternoon cruise Mt Olympus is a good place to check out.

Mt. Olympus is a the result of a merger of Big Chief go-karts & coasters, Family Land, and Bay of Dreams waterparks. They have a total of 156 acres of activities to keep you busy.

Of course if you need a place to stay why not stay at the RainTree Resort - Wisconsin Dells They have 158 rooms and an indoor water park if the weather should go bad.

Outdoor enthusiasts - Part II

In the last post we spoke about the Dells as a great thing to see. Another great stop in your Wisconsin Dells tour is Devil's Lake State Park. Devils Lake State Park is home to one of Wisconsin's deepest lakes. This state park is also Wisconsin's most visited state park with 1.2 to 1.4 million visitors ( Wisconsin DNR, 2005). The park has 29 miles of walking and hiking trails so you can every view from the 500 foot bluffs surrounding the lake. Devil's Lake State Park also beaches for swimming, and offers boat rentals if you'd care to paddle around the lake.

Noah's Ark

Of course a vacation in the Wisconsin Dells needs to include a trip to Noah's Ark. Especially if it's a warm summer day! The Wisconsin Dells is full of water parks, some of them are indoor water parks while others are outdoor water parks like Noah's Ark. Noah's Ark happens to be one of the largest parks. They have over 60 rides to entertain you all day long. It's a must for a hot summer day!

Of course when in the Wisconsin Dells be sure to stay at the RainTree Resort, which is located just across the street from Noah's Ark.
